If you are a band playing any kind of rock, including heavy metal, then you can participate ‘ROCK FOR PEACE’ in Pyong Yang, the capital city of North Korea. This is the very first time in history that North Korea allows western musicians in the heart of DPRK territory to play capitalist popular music. There are few restrictions and conditions on participation but any band will be considered even though you are from USA. The lyrics should not contain admirations on war, sex, violence, murder, drug, rape, non-governmental society, imperialism, colonialism, racism, anti-DPRK, and anti-socialism. The concert will be held from March 01 to March 04, 2007 under the management of Voice of Korea. We currently received requests of 35 bands from 19 countries and participations are increasing everyday. ROCK FOR PEACE will be the 2007 version of Woodstock rock festival in 1969 but in different location and in different goals, We welcome every musician as long as they are purely music based without political intentions. This outrageous (albeit hilarious) stuff comes from a particularly well-conceived Web site called “Voice of Korea”. Richardson says this site is the front for a UK-based DPRK propaganda venue, which appears to be run by some nutcase who calls himself Jean-Baptiste Kim. As for participants in “Rock for Peace”, I would suggest Marilyn Manson:
Seriously, though, the “restrictions and conditions” listed in the blurb seem to eliminate any kind of rock music I’ve ever heard. And just to show you how credible this site is, here’s an excerpt from a speech this Jean-Baptiste idiot attributes to George Bush:
“I warn you that don’t even think about your lives in the diversity! The reason is simple. I am the ruler of the United States and the rest of the world. Do you need more reasons than this? Therefore, every primitive nation must follow American rules and should obey to USA system. I will tell you what to do and you just do what I say. That’s enough to make the world secure. Therefore, you just shut up and follow me otherwise I will teach you with my gun and I will shoot your ass as I did to dirty and smelly Afghanistan and Iraq”. (Emphasis added by Effluent.)
